To explain more about the way Koreans sit…
Why do Koreans sometimes put one leg up on a chair, even when sitting? And then there's sitting cross-legged, or "yangban dari-style."

바로 아시안스쿼트.
쭈그리고 앉는 것.
이 쭈그리고 앉는 것은 고구려 사람들도 그랬다고 합니다.
유전이라니까??
Of course, there’s also the famous "Asian squat"—the full squat position. Even people from the ancient Goguryeo kingdom liked sitting this way! (Please refer to the link above to learn about Goguryeo.)
Apparently, it’s in the genes?
Ancient Goguryeo people were noted for their love of squatting.
Some old Chinese records even describe them as people who:
- Enjoy squatting
- Often cross their arms while standing
- Prefer tucking their hands into their sleeves.
Just look at the photo… even Cha Moo-hyuk (a character who grew up in Australia in a drama) squats this way
These days, kids aren’t really into squatting. They even struggle with squat toilets—those don’t exist in schools anymore, apparently.
Back in my day, that was all we had. Was it comfortable? …Not really!
