I feel like I’ve ridden all the ziplines I’ll ever ride in my life here.

Skyline Zipline Tips @ Chiang Mai
Why didn’t I research this properly before going?
I thought I’d just ride a single zipline and that the 2-hour activity included ziplining, a luge, and a giant swing.
In reality, it felt like 1 hour and 50 minutes of ziplining, followed by 5 minutes on the luge or cart, and then finishing with the giant swing and photo time.
I even planned to wear a white flared dress like the ones you see on Bali swings.
Yeah...... that wasn’t happening.
What to Wear
- Long pants or at least knee-length shorts: Avoid exposing too much skin; you might get a rash or insect bites. Two people in our group suffered from allergic reactions throughout the trip.
- No sleeveless tops: Sleeves are better to protect your skin.
- No slippers or flip-flops: If you lose them mid-zipline, good luck walking the rest of the way.
- Sandals or Crocs might work, but they can feel unstable. Sneakers are the best option.
- Mosquito protection: I’m not the type to get bitten, but others in the group recommended wearing long socks to cover your ankles.
Gear and Hygiene
- If you have sensitive skin, ask for a clean safety harness. Mine felt damp and smelled musty. Honestly, finding a clean one might be a challenge.
- To look decent in photos, try to adjust the white hairnet they give you. But let’s be real, after 2 hours without a mirror, you’ll probably forget all about it.
What About Your Phone?
Skyline provides photos, but they mainly capture you mid-zipline. If you want pictures while moving between stations, you’ll need your phone.
- Small bags for personal items are not allowed. Lockers are provided, and they’ll ask you to leave everything behind, including sunglasses and hats.
- I managed to bring my phone in the small crossbody bag they provided for water bottles and snacks. It barely fit (I use an S23), but it survived.
- Some guys in the group carried selfie sticks, though I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re confident you won’t drop it.

Hats and Sunglasses?
We started ziplining in the morning, and the sun was pretty strong. Not having a hat was tough.
- Hats with chin straps or caps that could fall off aren’t allowed.
- You’ll need to either hold onto your hat or stash it in your bag, which isn’t ideal since bags aren’t allowed on the course.
Bathrooms?
- There’s a bathroom at the starting point, and it’s relatively clean and spacious.
- There’s also one midway through the zipline course, but it’s easy to miss because everyone’s focused on the activity.
Important Information Before Booking
- Age/Height Restrictions: Children under 5 years old or shorter than 100 cm aren’t allowed.
- Age Limit: Participants over 65 are not permitted.
- Weight Limit: 20–110 kg.
To my surprise, even a 5-year-old from Nanjing managed to ride the zipline like a champ (with a guide’s assistance).
How It Works
Each group of 7–8 participants is assigned two guides.
- One guide goes ahead to receive riders at the next platform.
- The other stays back to secure your harness and send you off.
If you’re nervous, you can ride with a guide, but you’ll likely be the first or last in your group.
While everyone was scared at first, nobody chickened out. Even the men started finding it a bit tame toward the end.
At the beginning, we waited for everyone to finish before moving as a group. But later, it became a conveyor belt of people zipping one after another.
Communication
The younger guides spoke bits of Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and English. You don’t need much conversation to ride the zipline anyway.
Wrapping Up
After finishing the zipline course, we headed to a restaurant operated by Skyline for lunch.
- The food was decent—like a standard hotel breakfast—and the views were lovely. It might have been the hunger talking, but I enjoyed it.
Booking Tips
You don’t necessarily need to book in advance. There are plenty of tour agencies and hotels in Chiang Mai offering Skyline tours.
However, if you want to secure your spot, especially during peak seasons, pre-booking might be a good idea.
I went as part of a company group, so we had a private bus. If you’re traveling independently, most packages include hotel pick-up and drop-off at places like Tha Phae Gate.
Example Packages:
- Zipline for one person starting from 39,000 KRW / You can choose a course for a shorter duration:

- Skyline Zipline (Longest Course) + Luge + Swing + Round-trip Transportation + Lunch starting from 77,000 KRW: 77,000won

Skyline Zipline turned out to be one of the most memorable parts of my Chiang Mai trip.
I actually had fun!
Final Note
- Read all the guidelines before booking.
- Not suitable for those with high blood pressure, heart conditions, acrophobia, asthma, epilepsy, or pregnancy.
- Travel insurance is recommended, but many policies exclude extreme sports.
Before starting, they had us sign a waiver in the van. It was probably a liability release form.
Would I do it again? Maybe not, but I’m glad I did it once!

진짜 좋았다 짚라인.
평생에 한 번은 경험해봐도 좋을!
